Hello! Welcome to Module 9 of this course. By this time, you have worked with seven different types of claims. You have taken each of these seven claims through the entire claims process. Now that you have developed a familiarity with the procedures used to move claims effectively through their lifecycle, I want to focus more closely on the completion of the CMS-1500 claim form for several miscellaneous carriers, including TRICARE and CHAMPVA, workers' compensation, and disability income insurance.

So that you can spend more time learning about and working with claims for these carriers, we are going to do things differently in Module 9. Instead of taking claims all the way through the twelve steps of the claims cycle, you will be completing Step 5, completion of the CMS-1500 claim form, as you learn about each type of coverage.

In this module, you will work through three categories of claims:

1. TRICARE/CHAMPVA claims
2. Workers' compensation claims
3. Disability income insurance claims

As I have done during other modules, I will be checking in with you from time to time to emphasize important concepts and point you toward more detailed information in your textbook.
