Part 2 Introduction and Learning Objectives

I am glad to see you back at Blackburn. In this portion of your externship, you'll be working with workers' compensation claims. Just like we did with TRICARE and CHAMPVA, we will mainly be focusing on the background of the workers' compensation program and the way in which the CMS-1500 claim form is completed for workers' compensation claims.

At this time, I'll give you the self-evaluation checklist of learning objectives (goals) you'll need to accomplish in your experience with workers' compensation claims. You can take another look at this checklist to be certain you've accomplished each of the goals after we're finished.

  Experience with Workers' Compensation Claims

1. Comprehend the purpose of workers' compensation.

2. Understand workers' compensation eligibility requirements.

3. Know the reporting requirements of workers' compensation claims.

4. Accurately complete a workers' compensation claim.

5. Apply workers' compensation rules and regulations.
